    Description

    Rapport-Sprague Acoustic Stethoscope, Model 280, made by Sanborn Co. in Waltham, Mass.
    The Sanborn Company was established in 1917 by Frank B. Sanborn (1863-1958), a retired pro-fessor of civil engineering at Tufts University. The firm entered the medical field, with an electrocardiograph, in 1924; and the electronics field in 1935. It was acquired by (and became a subsidiary of) HP in 1961.     This is the very first model of the Rappaport Sprague Stethoscope and was made before the Sanborn Company was purchased by Hewlett-Packard.
    This Stethoscope is fully functional. The original tubing is cracked due to being over 63 years old and has been replaced. The original tubing is included.
